Spatial Calligraphy in a Stone Wall - Fukuoka Castle Ruins

teamLab, 2017, Digital Installation, Sound: Hideaki Takahashi

Built in 1607, Fukuoka Castle is also known as the Stone Castle. Spatial Calligraphy is continuously being projected onto the stone walls of the immense Tenshudai ruins.

Spatial Calligraphy offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese sho (calligraphy) in an abstract space. The artwork reconstructs Japanese sho in three dimensional space and expresses the depth, speed and power of the brush stroke.
