Open Environment Eternal Existence

teamLab, 2025

This orchid originally grows by attaching itself to rocks or tree trunks without soil. This orchid can live forever when there is wind, sunlight, and an appropriate amount of rain or water. This artwork possesses eternity in an open environment that is continuous with the outside.

On the other hand, classical art seeks to hold eternity in a closed environment, where there is no wind, no sunlight, and no water.

For this artwork, the presence of the appropriate wind, sunlight, rain, and water means a specific environment, or an environment maintained by humans. However, an environment without wind, sunlight, or water is also an artificial environment created and maintained by humans.

Is eternity found in a closed environment, or in an open, continuous environment? What is the eternity of existence?

Besides, a completely closed environment does not actually exist.
